Erdrich
Umformtechnik has expanded by adding a second facility in
their Soemmerda-Olishausen location. Completed in July 2003,
the new facility has doubled the production capacity of steel
break pistons to 17 Million a year. Erdrich Umformtechnik
invested 45 Million Euro in the Sömmerda-Olishausen location,
which has proven to be trend setting as shown in the Thuringian
Innovations Press 2002.
Erdrich Umformtechnik GmbH & Co. KG was founded on January
1st, 2002 as an independent enterprise by Nicolas Erdrich
. Located in the heart of Germany, the oustanding infrastructure
in the industrial area of Soemmerda–Orlishausen was
the reason this location was chosen. Soemmerda, found in one
of the fastest growing areas in Thueringen, provided the ideal
surrounding for an innovative young company like Erdrich Umformtechnik.

The
company’s core competence is the manufacturing of deep
drawn steel brake pistons in proprietiory automated production
lines. With the completion of the first facility in June 2002,
Erdrich Umformtechnik had an annual available capacity of
8 million. The large success of the product and the increased
demand made it necessary to think about expanding capacity.
With the expansion now completed in July 2003, capacity has
increased to 17 million steel brake pistons. In addition to
steel brake pistons, Erdrich Umformtechnik does precision
metal forming, such as deep draws and fine blanking on presses
up to 630 tons. The mass production quantities are middle
to high volume. Their customer base, 90% of which are in the
automotive industry, includes ContiTeves, Bosch, and Opel
oder Sander.
